Getting Started With Author Image Addition On Author Profiles
Earlier I told you that the WordPress ProfileGrid plugin has its own list of features. Given below is the image of the dashboard that appears after installing the plugin.
To add an author’s photo in WordPress, first, select the ProfileGrid option to land on the ‘Group Manager’ page. This page will show you all the groups that you have created with its consisting users.
Now choose a group where you want to add an author’s photo in WordPress. Then select the ‘Fields’ option from the bottom right corner of your selected group. This will lead you to the ‘Custom Fields Manager’ page. Here you will find two options on the top left corner – ‘New Section’ and ‘New Field’. Select the ‘New Field’ option and you will find a list of fields opening up.
This predefined list of fields in ProfileGrid makes it really simple to create an author profile page. You don’t need to write any text or apply any code, once you select a field it gets incorporated into a profile. So from this list of options select the ‘Profile Image’ field option. Immediately you will be taken to a page called ‘New Field’ where you have a few settings to look into before you embed the field on the frontend.
Here you will find options to choose in which section you want to put this field, the text that should describe the field on frontend or whether it should be a mandatory field. You will be offered another option which comes very handy at times, that is the ‘Associate with Group’ option. This option enables you to change the group where you want this field to appear. Thanks to this option, you can switch to another group immediately, if you had earlier selected a wrong group.
The Aftermath As Displayed On The Frontend
After editing the contents of the ‘New Field’ page don’t forget to click the save button. Now let’s see if our new field, ‘Profile Image’ appears on the frontend.
I chose the ‘Education’ group to add the ‘Profile Image’ field. Here we see on the frontend the profile photo icon has appeared on an author profile within the ‘Education’ group. This profile photo will appear on the author bio when this user posts a blog on the WordPress site. So you see we were successful to add an author’s photo in WordPress in a few simple and easy steps.
