Why Create Custom User Profile URLs

Profile URLs are fundamental to SEO. Customizing the pattern of these URLs is crucial for optimizing your website on search engines. Search engines first look at a page’s URL before reading its content, so having a unique URL gives you a strong advantage. The user profiles created with the ProfileGrid plugin can enhance your site’s online presence in multiple ways. When visitors reach a profile page directly through a customized URL, it further boosts the page’s ranking.

Step-by-Step Guide to Customize Profile URLs

Activate the Custom Profile Slugs Extension from the Extensions page of ProfileGrid and go ahead.

After activating the extension, you’ll find it under the ‘General’ category on the ‘Global Settings’ page. Clicking on the ‘User Profile Custom Slugs’ option will take you to the ‘Custom Profile Slugs’ page, where you can choose from three different patterns to create custom user profile URLs. These are:

  • User ID ( /?uid=1 )
  • User Name ( /?uid=username )
  • Random Number ( /?uid=TWNDNFoxQit0M3FicG9ad3ROQzZEZz09 )
